Chairman

New Chairman For The Association

Commander Steve Anderson OBE has stepped down from his role as RNFA Chairman. Steve handed over duties, formally, at the board meeting in June to Commander John Gordon, who has been Vice Chairman for the last eight years.

Steve has been involved in Navy Football since 2015 when chairman at the time Commodore Steve Dainton coerced him to join the RNFA Executive.

Steve’s knowledge of the charitable sector was instrumental in the association achieving Charitable Status in 2015 and along with the Board of Trustees all at the RNFA are very grateful for the invaluable contribution he made during this time.

Steve assumed the role of Chairman in 2017 taking over from Captain Dave Vanderpump, and leaves to take up a new overseas appointment, that will see him promoted to Captain. In his time as Chairman he has continually provided sound governance advice to the newly formed board of Trustees, whist also overseeing the production and execution of the RNFA business plan that was aligned to the FA’s 2018-21 national strategic objectives.

Due to social distance regulations the traditional dinning out was not achievable so a send-off on the Golf course was the next best thing.  RNFA President, Rear Admiral Martin Connell CBE, along with new Chairman John Gordon were in attendance to formally recognise his time and present with a leaving gift.
