Promotion Structure

Once you have successfully completed a basic referee course you can start applying for promotion. Successfully achieving promotion will be based upon your referee performances in assessment marks, maintaining above average club marks and keeping on top of your own referee admin.

The Promotion season commences from the 1 March 2017 - 28 February 2018.

Level 7-6 Promotion Candidates

  • Referee a minimum of 20 open age football appointments
  • Receive a minimum of 3 Assessments 
  • Successfully pass a LOTG written exam
  • Attend a In Service Training Day:
    (i) 5-9 June '17 CTCRM Lympstone (During Tunney Cup)
    (ii) September '17 HMS Temeraire (During Inter Regionals, 27 Sep '17 @ 1300)
  • Inform Assessment Coordinator of all upcoming fixtures
  • Maintain a record of all fixtures completed and produce when required  

Level 6-5 Promotion Candidates

  • Referee a minimum of 20 open age football appointments
  • Receive a minimum of 3 Assessments 
  • Act as an Assistant Referee for 5 open age football appointments
  • Successfully pass a LOTG written exam
  • Attend a In Service Training Day:
    (i) 5-9 June '17 - CTCRM Lympstone (During Tunney Cup)
    (ii) September '17 - HMS Temeraire (During Inter Regionals, 27 Sep '17 @1300)
  • Liaise with Assessment Coordinator 
  • Maintain a record of all fixtures completed and produce when required  

Level 5-4 Promotion Candidates

  • Referee a minimum of 20 open age football appointments
  • Receive a minimum of 5 Assessments
  • Acheive an average assessment mark of 73 or above
  • Act as an Assistant Referee for 10 open age football appointments
  • Attend an FA Regional Training Seminar (Dates tbc)
  • Successfully pass a LOTG exam
  • Successfully complete a FA Nomination Fitness Test*
    (i) Cover 2600 metres in 12 minutes 
    (ii) Complete 2 x 50m sprints in under 7.5 seconds
  • Liaise with Assessment Coordinator 
  • Maintain a record of all fixtures completed and produce when required 

Promotion to Level 4 is determined by The FA.

*It is intended to conduct a level 5-4 fitness test during the Tunney Cup and Inter Regionals (exact dates TBC), please note that these will be the only two tests the RNFA will run. If you are not available please contact your local County FA's to see when they are conducting the test and ask to be included on it.
