ROYAL NAVY YOUTH FOOTBALL – DALLAS CUP TOURNAMENT 2008

After a long flight from the UK the RN Youth Team arrived in Dallas, Texas for the start of their Dallas Cup campaign.  Their pre-cup preparation started with a scrimmage (friendly) against Mesquite Select, a local Dallas League select team. This allowed the squad to acclimatise to both the weather and the playing surfaces.  The game of four quarters allowed the management to give all squad members a run out and the players another opportunity to push for a starting spot in the first competitive game. The first two quarters were played at a hectic pace with neither team able to get to grips with the difficult conditions. In the third quarter the RN did start to get on top and worked an excellent opening goal with AET Marv Brooks (HMS Seahawk). This resulted in the RN taking control and settling into a good rythym, the second goal soon followed as AET Antonio Musemeci finished off a move with great composure. The fourth quarter followed the same pattern with the Navy in full control and in the final minutes Musemeci grabbed his second after a good delivery from the left by AB Chris Young.  The Navy now look forward to their first competitive game in the Dallas Cup coming off the back of three consecutive wins.
