National Game Strategy

The Royal Navy Football Association is here to support the development of Football within the Royal Navy through our member Leagues and Clubs

The FA National Game Strategy (NGS) 2015-2019 will make a record £260 million of investment to boost participation and the development of grassroots football in England.

    • PARTICIPATION
      • More players playing football more often.
      • Boost female participation by 11%
      • Retain and support the existing 119,000 affiliated male, female and disability teams
      • Increase over 16's playing every week by over 200,00 by offering a variety of formats of the game.
      • Innovative programmes and grants to provide a range of playing opportunities in education, clubs, leagues, and other community settings.

    •  PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
      • Better quality players being developed and entering the payer pathways.
      • An investment of £16 million into coach education, development, mentoring and bursary programmes.
      • Create the best competition formats and environment for young players.
      • An extra 1,000 top level (FA Youth Award Module 3) grassroots coaches developed at FA Charter Standard clubs.
      • On-going investment in The FA Skills programme to provide high quality age appropriate coaching for 5-11 years olds

    • BETTER TRAINING AND PLAYING FACILITIES
      • Create 100 new football turf pitches and improve 2,000 grass pitches
      • 48 million of FA investment in new and approved facilities through the football foundation
      • Ensure half of mini-soccer and youth matches are played on high quality artificial grass pitches
      • Invest in and roll out a new sustainable model for grassroots facilities in 30 cities through football hubs owned and operated by local communities

 

    • FOOTBALL WORKFORCE
      • Recruiting and developing volunteers and staff who service the game
      • Communicate directly with all participants
      •  Each County FA to have Inclusion Advisory Board with targets to diversify coaching and refereeing
      •  90 per cent of youth and adult matches to be officiated by a qualified referee

The Royal Navy FA will support the delivery of the FA's NGS by developing better playing environments, increase/sustain the number of teams and qualified coaches whilst also improving our efficiency in the governance of the game.  To achieve this a 4 year business plan has ben produced, which can be download from the documents section below.
