Despite difficult conditions – a howling, blustery and cold wind was hardly conducive to measured football – the RN built up a 3-0 lead thanks to Susan Badger and a brace from Anthea Kaptein.

But Navy supporters then had to endure a nail-biting finale as the RAF clawed themselves back into the game, scoring their second with just minutes to go.

But the Navy hung on to record an impressive 3-2 victory and keep themselves in with a chance to claim their first Inter-Service title. POPT Nat Bavister was presented the Lynsey Miller trophy by Cdr John Gordan RN Vice Chairman RNFA and Lynsey's father Vince Miler, who had travelled down from Scotland along with family and friends to be at the game.

The RN ladies now travel to Aldershot to take on the Army Ladies with the chance of lifting the Inter Services Trophy outright for the first time.
