First Home Fixture For the Women

RN Ladies Representative side had their first home fixture of the season on Wed 25 Oct 17 against MoneyFields FC in a friendly at Victory Stadium.

With several returning faces that missed the first the game of the season, plus a few new ones to the setup, the game started a little disjointed as the players adjusted to not only new faces but also a few players were asked to play out of their natural positions. The RN Ladies then settled into their rhythm and never looked back, taking the lead after half hour with AET Kaptein getting her first of the evening, a tap in from close range. She was again on the score sheet 5 minutes later scoring from midway inside the penalty area after arriving late and capitalising on the breakdown of the initial attack, all before ET Boylan added a third, heading in a curling freekick from the far post.  The RN went into Half Time at 3-0 and in complete control of the game. The 2nd Half started in very similar fashion to how the 1st half played out with the RN completely dominating, a break down the left and some determined work by AB McDonnell, not only in the initial break but also in recovering the ball to lead to the moment of the game and AET Kaptein getting her well deserved hatrick with a finish from the edge of the area. The 5th and final goal came from a delightful cross field ball from AB Perrin to ET Boylan who drove forward from midway in Moneyfields half before firing into the bottom corner from the left hand side of the penalty area to make it 5-0. ET Boylan would have had a hatrick for herself but for the crossbar being in the way and the game finished 5-0 to the RN. Overall a very convincing RN display in what is looking a promising season. Despite the notable performances of both the goalscorers, AET Kaptein hatrick and ET Boylan’s brace, also from AB McDonnell who had numerous assists on the evening,  the joint Player of the Match goes to S/LT’s Timoney and Field who both were superb throughout, in not their natural positions. The next fixture for the RN Ladies Representative side is in the South Counties Cup at Home to Kent FA on Wed 15 Nov 17.
